Aftercare
Aftercare Advice
Drink Plenty of Water
As we have released stagnant lymph and encouraged lymph flow
during your massage treatment, please drink lots of water.
This will further promote the removal of wastes from your body.
Drinking water also hydrates the body after a massage treatment
and helps prevent any headaches or nausea.
Eat a Light Meal
Heavy meals should be avoided after your treatment. If heavy or
large amounts of food are consumed, the blood circulation will
need to focus on the stomach and other digestive organs to aid the
digestive process. This removes energy from the healing process
after your treatment.
Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine
Alcohol and caffeine are stimulants, so they will not enable you
to relax and feel the full benefits of the treatment. In addition,
alcohol and caffeine will re-introduce toxins into the body, making
the treatment less effective.
Rest and Relax
Please rest and relax after the treatment to gain the full benefits and effects of the massage.
Strenuous exercise should be avoided. The body should be calm
and balanced after treatment; any strenuous movements may
disrupt this balance and take away from the treatment’s effectiveness.
Return for Treatment
Lymphatic drainage massage depends on your needs, availability, and stress levels.
If needed you can have the treatment as often as once a week if needed, or the
treatment can be a maintenance plan and received once a month.

Contra Actions
Common Contra-Actions
Headache
A headache may occur after treatment due to dehydration or toxins
released from the body. Please drink plenty of water to rehydrate and release the toxins
more effectively. It is advised to rest and relax where possible.
Nausea
Again, releasing toxins from the body could result in you experiencing some nausea.
If there is a build-up of toxins in the body, the sudden release of these into the bloodstream
can cause nausea. Drinking water, eating lightly, and resting should help nausea pass.
Increased Urination
This is another sign that toxins are being released from the body.
Waste and toxins are removed from the body via sweat and urine.
During the massage treatment, you have a build-up of waste,
this can be released by the massage techniques and then needs to
be released from the body. This, alongside the increase in lymphatic
circulation, may cause increased urination.
Healing Crisis
In some cases, you may experience a healing crisis. This is when
the client experiences a combination of the contra-actions
mentioned above, and they can feel quite unwell. This sign that the
body is balancing and healing itself due to waste and toxins being
drained and filtered.
You may feel worse before they feel better, particularly if your
lymph circulation is very sluggish, which means more toxins in the body must
be removed. If you have a particular immune or lymph issue or condition, then
you may experience a healing crisis.
A healing crisis combines dehydration and toxins moving more
effectively through the lymphatic system. It can result in headaches,
nausea, or flu-like symptoms.
Advise; to drink water, eat lightly and rest. The healing
crisis will pass, and please reschedule
further treatments so that the body and mind can be balanced and
clear and help you feel better.
